In honor of National Peanut Butter Day I am posting a recipe using …. Peanut Butter!!

After the success with Copycat Recipe: Homemade Thin Mints

I decided to tackle Mr.Savvy’s favorite cookie Girl Scout’s Tagalongs! When Mr.Savvy tried them he could not believe how much they taste like the real thing – I love the fact that I already had the ingredients in my stockpile and they are so easy to make ( even kids could help make these 😉 ).

I know what you are going to say about the Ritz crackers – well try it out and then tell me what you think 😉

What You Need

Sleeve of Ritz Crackers

Bag of Milk Chocolate Chips

Smooth Peanut Butter

What To Do

First make a double boiler – place chocolates on the top pan and melt

or melt chocolate in the microwave – make sure NOT to burn your chocolate 😉 If you are melting chocolates in the microwave wait until you have the ritz sandwiches done.

Take crackers out of the sleeve and put dab of peanut butter on half of the crackers

Keep on going till you have a bunch of little sandwiches

Remember do not eat any of them at this point…. well you can have one 😉

Now it is time for a chocolate bath!

Dip each ritz sandwich into the chocolate – I used a spoon to cover the “cookie” on one side then flipped the “cookies” and spooned chocolate on the other side.

Then place the “cookie” on a tray covered with parchment paper.

Your tray should look like this

Now pop these bad boys into the freezer ( on the tray) for 30 minutes – then ENJOY!

How good do these look ?!

These cookies are a REQUIRED staple at our holiday and family gatherings. I make little batches for the kiddos using Ritz Bits® Sandwiches…they’re a miniature version of the grown up kind! (And it saves all that time spreading the PB onto the crackers.) I also get fancy with this recipe for Valentine’s Day by giving the sandwiches a bath in WHITE chocolate and then adding red sugar sprinkles. I’m so glad you shared this with us!

Can’t wait until you come up with a Samoa (also known as caramel delights) copycat recipe!

OMG these are my fave GS cookie too so I will have to try this! Thanks for sharing!

We discovered that the Dollar General (of all places!) sells their brand in Tagalongs. I think they are around $2.50 a box but it allows me to get my fix all year round! They also sell thin mints as well. Not sure about the Samoas as no one in my house eats them but I’ll check it out next time I go!

Amanda I am going to have to check that out!

You can get Samoas at walmart (haven’t looked anywhere else) and I think they’re feebler brand.

Just made these. They are pretty good. I should have used milk chocolate like called for in the recipe but I used semi sweet like I had.

I have been making these for years along with the Thin Mint, they taste so much like the real girl scout cookies and less expensive.

I made these for the first time at Christmas this year. They are wonderful and so close to tagalongs. I just used chocolate flavored almond bark though. And sprinkled just a tad bit of sea salt on top before the chocolate cooled. Sooooo yummy!

These are good dipped in melted butterscotch chips with a spoonful of peanut added as well. The same covering can be used for pretzels.

I make these every year at Christmas and they do taste like tagalongs.. I also dip them in white chocolate instead of milk and they are very good.. Hope everyone enjoys making these.. I know I sure do…

These were approved by my taste testers (kids) – I also used Nutella in place of peanut butter on some and on others I used both!
