  1. 1 tablespoon of paprika? There is no way on Earth that is correct. Not even going to try this version.

  1. Actually my parents started the family tradition of going to Clearman's restaurants in 1950 on their honeymoon, so I think I know what I am saying. Besides the Northwoods in they also have a Steak and Stein, Golden co*ck and Captain's Galley restaurant. This recipe produced a runny ping goo that is close in one respect only GARLIC. I love the Clearman's Inns and their blue cheese/ Roquefort dressing this is not it. I am thinking of trying this recipe but cutting back on the buttermilk and using white pepper instead of paprika

  2. I love Northwoods Inn. I grew up in California and we used to frequent Northwoods Inn for their salad and cheese bread! I found a recipe for the cheese bread on the internet also! The dressing is great, only it was not white! It tasted pretty close though!

  3. Aussie thanks for posting this recipe! It is truly the best dressing I've ever had!I love to mix their green salad with the red cabbage salad - two salads that are delicious!!

  4. I believe the secret ingredient to Northwood's Inn buttermilk salad dressing is Lawry's season salt and a little Worcestershire mixed in this recipe...oh and a little cottage cheese for texture...if you recall the blue cheese taste in their recipe is quite mild with very little garlic. Just sayin' :)

  5. Many years ago, a favorite Aunt used to make something like this...but made it in a GALLON mayonnaise jar. I am thrilled that I found this and it is absolutely wonderful. Iceberg lettuce...not in this lifetime...but that is a personal preference.

  2. The problem with the color is that the sweet Hungarian paprika is definitely not part of the Northwoods recipe. White pepper should be used instead. Also reduce the garlic and buttermilk to half the listed amounts, and I like a little more blue cheese.

  3. Trying it without Paprika to see.

I am an Aussie and moved to Southern California in 1991. I have a very sarcastic sense of humour and my talents lie in being intuitive, singing, and eating.I have traveled all over the world and have lived in many locations. I spent the most time in Melbourne Australia ), Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Southern California, New York and Harrisburg PA. If you were to ask me what I love &/or miss about each place my first choice would ALWAYS be the food. My hobbies are acquiring lots of environmental, and medical allergies. <---- Joking but I am super sensitive and so I can be a big pain in the bum to cook for. I guess that is why I love to cook. I know exactly what is going into my mouth and not have to worry about keeping my epipen or inhaler in close reach.
